Hello, Blogosphere

"Stand by... initializing initial blog posting..."

Hi, all! Welcome to our blog!

Why the LNP blog, you ask?

Well, whenever we add a new product or fulldome show to our catalog, we want to let the world know, of course. Yes, we do already have our Web site’s What’s New page to handle that sort of thing. However, until recently, you actually had to make the effort to surf to the Loch Ness Productions Web site to find out the latest happenings here.

Now, by using WordPress and Feedburner for the blog, we can provide more functionality. You can subscribe and get the news automatically provided to you — by e-mail, or through our RSS feed. (Here at LNP, we’re still evaluating the alternatives to Google Reader; so far, Feedly and The Old Reader are in the running.) If your favorite News Reader doesn’t appear in the Feedburner list when you click on the orange RSS icon up there on the right, simply right-click on the link instead to copy our feed URL, then paste it into the “Add Content (or Subscription)” link in your favorite new Reader.

However, we really have more in mind for this blog, beyond the official news-y stuff. We really wanted to have a place for sharing our personal musings, philosophies, and other thoughts with you, our readers, friends, colleagues, fellow producers, future clients and collaborators. This is meant to be the place for the kinds of topics we discuss late at night in the hospitality suite during a planetarium conference or a fulldome film festival somewhere.

For example, in upcoming posts, we may discuss: the how and why we select the shows we do for production and distribution; what works in the dome and what doesn’t; how we got started doing creating science content; what was it like to work on an exhibit project, and so on. We have lots of experiences to share.

To share thoughts and ideas that crop up as your read our ramblings, you’re welcome to leave a comment.
