Hubble Vision

Astronomy with the Hubble Space Telescope

This book began as Carolyn Collins Petersen's master's thesis in science journalism. It gradually expanded beyond the scope of a thesis, so she reworked it as a popular science book and asked Jack Brandt (who was her boss and advisor) to be second author. Hubble Vision was the first book of the Hubble era to focus on the science pouring from the telescope, even with the formidable challenge of the spherical aberration. By the time it was released, the public was starting to see how valuable the observatory was, and the book sold quite well, going into several printings. It continues to find homes on the secondary market.
