a staff person has submitted a Compendium Update Form

If a theater isn't listed, we prefer the first option for remedying the situation. :-)

Why this online directory is here

First, people often ask us, "Where can I see Loch Ness Productions shows?" With hundreds of planetaria and shows out there, we seldom know when any specific show is playing at a given theater. But we can note that a facility has licensed a show of ours, and provide contact information. For our theater customers, it's our way of helping boost attendance figures!

Second, it provides a feedback mechanism for those who submit Compendium Update Forms. Now theater professionals can check their listings to see what data we already have about their facilities, and easily "fill in the gaps" and correct obsolete data, such as staff members who've moved on.

Third, those outside our field are often unfamiliar with the many aspects of the dome trade. A planetarium theater is often just "the place they visited on a field trip as a kid." So, in perusing the wealth of data, casual Web surfers may discover a nearby theater that might be of interest. Again, it's our way of providing some public awareness of the dome theater.

Finally, theater professionals are always looking to contact others in the field. By providing e-mail addresses and Web links in hypertext form, we can facilitate better communication among our colleagues, as well as providing a measure of recognition to our fine, upstanding Loch Ness Productions customers — the ones in boldface type!
