Planetarium is used by Planetarium Production class to present shows to elementary schools and to teach high school astronomy classes.

All manually-controlled live talk shows for K-12 school groups (primarily 3rd grade) on Tues+Thurs mornings at 9:30 and 10:45. Planetarium Director has 20% release time from teaching duties to run planetarium and give shows.

We specialize in audience participation shows. See Planetarium Activities for Student Success (PASS) web site. We also do STARLAB teacher workshops and STARLAB rentals to schools.

Group shows (25 min.) during the week; public shows Sat. 6:30; Lecture Series, Specialty Shows Fri. 6:30; Laser Show Fri. and Sat. 8, 9, 10:00; Corporate Events, Birthday Parties, Weddings, etc. welcome. Planetarium is also used as astronomy classroom for college classes.

Vortex Dome is a commercial entertainment venue and fulldome development studio. The dome is available for special events and corporate rentals in addition to quarterly public screenings.

ALL PLANETARIUM EVENTS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC EVENT PARTICIPATION IS ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS, AND AT THE WILL OF THE PALMDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THE CASES OF THE PLANETARIUM EVENTS.

We do live and automated presentations. We use a Sky-Skan system running six wide angle slide projectors and several special effects projectors. We primarily do shows for the local elementary schools.

We were the first tilted dome, and the first combined planetarium and Imax theater. Renovation 2008.

The Gladwin Planetarium brings astronomy to the public, school children, day camp groups, Santa Barbara City College students and many more. 5.1 surround sound system.

Apart from impressive visuals and technology, Dome on the Go provides a personal, interactive experience featuring down to earth explanations of far out phenomena. Stories, activities, demonstrations, and displays further engage visitors to promote understanding and make each visit memorable.

Public shows are presented monthly by the LAVC Astronomy Group. LAVC Observatory with Celestron 16-in telescope. Planetarium includes Spitz ATM-4 automation system controlling SciDome, slide projectors, digital tape deck and LED coves. Laserdisc, VCR and DVD feed 2 LCD video projectors;5.1 sound.
